Many people resolve to online dating since it is convenient and just a click away. They like to meet singles in their areas and often things work out. But here are what people always worry about stating their age on their online profiles. Usually the people who are in their mid 30’s have no problems presenting their ages as is. But sometimes above 40’s or early 50’s want to choose a different age for themselves.

Now the question here is what are the risks involved in lying about one’s age? Well mostly people online want to find sincere partners, but sometimes stating the right age can hinder that process. There is no harm if your intentions are not to hurt anyone, and you want to meet them before they just click on the next profile because of your age. If you feel you have a better chance with shedding off a couple of age digits, then go ahead. But make sure when you meet the person tell them, why you did so. It is often that most people lie about their real age online. There could be several reasons behind this. Make sure you do not seem someone who is overwhelmed concerned about his or her age. When you meet the person talk about other genuine things. Often people state a younger age, but in person they look a lot older what should you do then? Well in such a case forget about being negative or asking up front. If you feel you can click with the person then a few years up should not really matter. But if you feel that they are not compatible to you, then you might want to ask them their real age. But if you feel that it is not going to work then why hurt the other person just simply let go.

Men and women can both lie about their ages online so beware of this. Make sure the age component is not the only thing you look in when you meet the person. If the person has been honest to you about their age great, but if not do not hold that against them. Understand their point of view. Whoever has a serious problem with age, or they would never date someone way older or way younger then them, then make sure when you talk online tell them how you feel about lying. It is always advisable to talk a couple of times online before you meet in person.
